Envy is one of the strongest driving forces in man, but also one of the most shameful. The essence of envy is the ability to compare oneself to others. The more we compare ourselves to others, the more unhappy man becomes. That is why we resist intensely when envy is the guest who knocks on the door of our soul. Envy and despair are moods to revolution, and envy turns justice into equality.

The essence of a content in school is a solidified version of the living earth. If such solidified content is to have the right to live, it must be brought to life in the classroom and the teacher must be able to unfold the essence and the significant of the content that the pupils can learn to care about. This is why pupils should start by digging in the earth and not being presented a content sitting at a desk.

The essence of political fight is injustice. This is not the same as fight against nations, but when injustice become structural and national the fight becomes total and the purpose are no longer equilibrium but annihilation.

It is the concealed existence of truth that gives way to love. Without the concealed truth we would not have philosophy, and an uncovered truth would be the death of philosophy.

The essence of shame is a golden mean between self-destruction and psychopathy. Human must learn to know one’s shame and embrace it.

The essence of playfulness is the possibility of nothing wrong, in a situation of no assessment.
